I'm Gonna Be a Warrior!

My friend Kelli sent me an e-mail to let me know that she and her hubby, Jamie, had signed up for the Warrior Dash (click on warrior dash to see what it is all about) in KC. I checked out the website and was soon convinced that I needed to be a warrior too. All the morning slots were full so I had to take the 2:30pm time. It will be hotter than heck on July 30, but I'm hoping running through the mud and water will keep me cool. I went ahead and signed up Ryan too, unbeknownst to him. He'll thank me one day. :)

I have approxiametly four months to plan my outfit, but most importantly I will have a cool hat because all participants get one of these: (the hat, not the chic).

Once again Ryan will likely thank me.... or not.

Spring Break 2011

This spring break Madelyn and her daddy shot her 22, went fishing, burned a pasture, mowed, went 4 wheeling and had good quality time together. But Madelyn also made time for her friends. She spent almost an entire day playing with the neighbor girl Mya, and then stayed the night at her house. She had her friend Kenzie over to stay the night, and she stayed the night at her friend Hollee's house one night. Friday after I got off work I met Madelyn and our friends at the movie theater to watch The Diary of a Wimpy Kid II, then we all went to the Orange Leaf for yummy yogurt.

Madelyn riding the mower for fun (the duct tape seat has since been replaced).
Enjoying yogurt at the Orange Leaf with friends
And I spent spring break enjoying the pretty trees on my drive to and from work.

First Fish of the Season

Madelyn and Ryan spent their second morning of spring break fishing at the Augusta lake. This was the first catch of the season, a small crappie. I would say that they are enjoying their spring break, while I slave away at work. :(

Another great time celebrating St. Pats with my BFFs in Aggieville.  Lots of fun memories were made once again. We started celebrating at 1:30pm, Kris, Robin & Bryan left us around 6:30pm and Kelli, Jamie, Ryan and I made it until 10:30pm. Already planning for new shirts for next year.

My Life Motto

Life shouldn't be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather, to skid in broadside, cold beer in one hand, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly shouting, "Wow! What a ride!

I love this quote and have decided this is my motto in life! Heck with all that sappy, inspirational crap. This is definitely more fitting!

Sunday Adventure

Sunday afternoon we took a family adventure (as Madelyn calls them) to the Augusta lake.

Watch out!! Crazy driver on the loose!
Builidng a "home" for the fish when the lake finally fills back up.
My turn for a ride... she thought it was hysterical to try to throw me off. Ha, little did she know if I was going down she was going with me.

Season Finale

Today was Madelyn's last basketball game of the season. Can I get a Heck Yea?!?!?! We have long awaited this day as this has been a really tough season to get through. The team only won one game the entire season. It was painful!! However, the girls did improve as the season went on. Unfortunately the coaches were too soft spoken and had little control at practice, which was frustrating to watch.
On a more positive note, Madelyn improved immensely since last year, she scored every game except one and did great on defense. She's a scrappy thing. Being one of the tallest on her league also has its advantages.

The Sharp Reality team

Another trophy to add to her collection.

Now that basketball season is over we are all anxiously awaiting softball season to begin. As it means warmer weather and spending more time outside!!

Number Six

I am currently training for my sixth 1/2 marathon. I have encouarged a friend/running partner to join me as she runs her first 1/2 marathon. My goal is to beat my last PR (personal record) which was straight up two hours. But most importantly I want to encourage my friend to cross the finish line. If she wants me to run with her to be encouragement all the way I will, if not I will work hard to beat my time.
