Pastor of Worship Arts

This past Sunday the new Pastor of Worship Arts joined The Hope Community Church family. Eric, as we call him, wears t-shirts, flannel shirts, has a scruffy go-tee, has earrings and an eyebrow ring, sometimes chooses to perform barefooted, has an amazing voice, and has an awesome heart for the Lord. Although I have not personally met Eric and his family I know he is a great match for our Church. I am so excited about what Eric and his family will bring to our Church.

Eric's parents visited Hope Community Church this past weekend after assiting Eric and his family with the move from Cincinnati, OH to Andover, KS. In the weekly Church newsletter Eric's dad had the opportunity to tell us a little bit about Eric. Reading this only confirms that Eric is right where he belongs.

Valentine's Party

Since the USD 402 Elementary schools were out of school this Thursday and Friday for parent/teacher conferences the Valentine's Day parties were held Wednesday morning.

I spent the morning at Madelyn's party. After a morning snack, passing out Valentines and decorating cards it was time for me to go to work. I love that my job allows me the flexibility to attend all of Madelyn's holiday parties.








I was amused by this bulletin that was hanging in the classroom. Madelyn's daily news was interesting to say the least. My sweet child!

Basketball

This is the first year that Madelyn was old enough to play basketball on the Augusta Youth Basketball (AYB) league. I was actually suprised when Madelyn expressed interest in playing. Madelyn plays on one of the 1st and 2nd grade girls' teams and is the only first grader on her team. Altough the youngest of the team, she is as tall or taller than the other five girls. Practices are Monday and Thursday evenings and games are every Saturday. Madelyn's team is 100%, with not winning a game yet. They try hard but just don't have the experience or skill that some of the other teams have. However, the girls all seem to have a good time and at this age I suppose that is what is important.

Since basketball season is right in the midst of wrestling Ryan very rarely gets to take Madelyn to practice and won't be able to attend a game until March. I, unfortunately, am one of those moms that gets too emotionally involved and yells too much at the games. I'm sure Ryan is glad that he doesn't have to witness his wife acting a fool at his daughter's game...but just wait until March.
