Summer Softball 2012

Since I'm already so behind on my blog I thought I would back track to summer and hopefully get caught back up at some point. My blog has been neglected only because I've just been too lazy to get caught up. Sorry. I'll work on that.

This year Madelyn moved up to kid pitch softball. We had been warned that it would be a very long season while new pitchers learn to pitch. But I thought the season really went well and smoother than I had expected. Softball was one of my fav sports to play and also happens to be one of my fav sports to watch Madelyn play so maybe that had something to do with it.

Madelyn played short stop for a majority of the season, tried her hand arm at pitching and decided it wasn't for her, and also played catcher a few games. She said her favorite position is catcher because that is where all the action is. She has a point. Her fielding and batting improved much this year and I just love watching her play. It just happens to be one of her favorite sports to play and that makes this mama very proud. Now if only I could convince her that volleyball is great too.

Fourth Grader

Madelyn  started fourth grade last Tuesday. It is still hard to wrap my mind around the fact that I have a fourth grader. She was excited to go back to see her friends but not so thrilled that summer was over. As I was taking her picture in front of our house she asked if I would please not take any pics in front of the school like I normally do. I kindly explained no chance as I will be following her to school and taking her picture even when she is a senior in high school. So needless to say she was less than thrilled to have her picture taken in front of the school and even less thrilled that I followed her into the school and took her pictures as she sat next to her friends in the gym waiting for school to start. I guess I have become the uncool mom and I now embarrass her. Isn't that my job?

Adventure Time

One Saturday afternoon Madelyn and I decided to take an adventure at the ElDorado lake. We packed a lunch for a picnic and headed out. First stop was the beach area, which didn't create much of an adventure so we then went to tube below the dam. We walked up and down the area looking for shells, bobbers, fishing line, hooks, lures and of course crawdads. We enjoyed a picnic lunch and then went back to the beach area where we witnessed the tail- end of a baptism. I soaked up some sun and Madelyn made a few new friends while swimming.

She Turned 9 on May Twenty Nine.

Madelyn had three parties to celebrate turning nine! Apparently turning nine is kind of a big deal or she is just well loved. She chose a movie theme for her friend birthday party. She invited all her classemantes and a few other friends to her party. Thankfully her daddy was kind enough to let us use the highschool auditorium for the move night. Once kids arrrive they had cake, she opened presents and then they all quietly intently watched the movie Jack and Jill. Thankfully parents arrived soon after the movie and all but three little girls headed home. The three girls and Madelyn had a slumber party at Ryan's house. I went over the next morning to see the girls off and to help clean up.
Madelyn and I then headed to Council Grove lake where we roughed it camped in my parents air conditioned camper for a couple nights and clebrated her birthday with my family. She then had the Muhlig family birthday party at the Council Grove Pizza Hut. She is a much loved nine year old!

Life

I have been quite the blogger slacker in recent months, apparently life got in the way. I hope to catch up in the near future with pictures from Madelyn's birthday, our adventure at ElDorado lake, softball and our move to a new house.
