I'm not talking about the most important things in my life such as God, my family and my friends, I'm talking about the trivial things that I think I cannot live without.
In no particular order:
Chapstick - Carmex or herpecin (because I think it prevents cold sores)
Sunglasses - particularly in the summer because I hate squinting
Fan - I have to have the noise of a fan going while I'm sleeping
Ice - I do not like cold drinks without ice (well, beer is the exception)
Moroccan Oil - my hair is never the same without it
Flat Iron - my curly, frizzy hair looks much better straight
Running Shoes - can't run without them
Clorox clean-up - I love the smell, and it is my fav cleaner
Tweezers - I would have a full beard without them
finger nail file - I don't like long nails so I'm forever filing my nails short
Chocolate syrup - My fridge always has at least one bottle
Milk - I love choc milk on the weekend mornings
My happy pill - trust me, you don't want to be around me when I don't have it
cetaphil face wash - I use it every morning and every evening
Crest toothpaste - no other will do
A large mug of ice water by my bed at night - can't sleep unless it is there
My huge ghetto comb that I've had since High School
Just to name a few. :)

99 Baby Quail in a Brooder, 99 Baby Quail....
Take one out blow it up in the air, 98 baby quail in a brooder. Sing with me! :)
Well actually there were 105 baby quail in a brooder, but one died which leaves us with 104. But, I thought there were 100 to begin with and as I was singing that tune Ryan informed me there were 105. That kind of put a damper on the title and my tune but I decided to go with it anyway.
Ryan's annual quail farming has begun again. He picked up 105 week old baby chics last week, 25 of them are in a brooder in our back yard (yes we are the Clampits in town!!), and the rest are in a surrogator on the lease. So far, so good with the chics, except for one unforutunate one. The way I look at it, it is better to die young than grow up and get blown up by a shot gun. Take your pick, either way you're dead. Just saying.
Regardlesss of their fate, I still call them cute and want to name each of them.
This is the surrogator where most of the chics reside. It has automatic food and water and heat set up so the quail do not get used to human contact.

These two cannot wait for the day when the quail are released and they can hunt, and hunt, and hunt.

And this one cannot resist not having her picture taken every time I have the camera out.

Upgrade
I'm so proud of Ryan for finally upgrading his phone. My frugal and practical husband has had a GO-phone for years. It has been a reliable means of communication and served its purpose.
Just the other day the phone went for a ride on the hood of his truck and when Ryan stepped on the brakes the phone went flying. When Ryan picked up the phone from the pavement it still worked as good as it did the day he bought it.

Ryan decided he wanted to be like me and got himself an I-phone. He has had his new phone all of two days and already has more apps than I do. The hunting and fishing apps may cause me to regret his decision to upgrade.

Madelyn thinks her daddy's phone is way cooler than her mama's phone. I guess I need to add some fun apps to my phone too.
The man that swore he would never send a text now sends texts. Baby steps.

Good People, Good Friends
This weekend we got to spend with some of our dearest friends, the Bosch's. Ryan and I have known Terry since Jr. High and we met Angie in high school when Terry brought her to our Senior Prom. To say we were fast friends wasn't exactly the case. I detested Terry in high school and when Ryan and I double dated with he and Angie to our senior prom I thought she was a snooty, Johnson County girl and she thought I was a loud mouth b@#*h (Angie is much too nice to come out and say that but I know she was not my biggest fan back then). Flash foward a few months, when Ryan was at boot camp at Ft. Leanordwood, MO., Terry and I were attending ESU and Angie was at KU. Terry and I became great friends during that time when our significant others were away. Then Terry moved to Lawrence, KS the semester of our freshmen year in college to be closer to Angie. Ryan had returned from boot camp and continued to work to earn money for a year before moving to Emporia to attend college. Even after a few break ups between Ryan and I, Terry remained both of our friends. Somewhere in there I discovered what a terrible judgement I had made about Angie and we also became friends. I know that Terry and Angie will be our life long friends. Although we may not talk often and we see them even less, I know without a doubt that if we ever needed anything they would be there as fast as they could, and vise versa.
Terry, Angie and Jillian arrived around 10:00pm on Friday night. After the kiddos went to bed the four of us stayed up reminiscing and having a few beers until wee hours in the morning. Angie and I made it until 2:30am and Terry and Ryan finally crashed aroud 5:00am. Saturday we spent a majority of the day at the lake. We grilled steaks that evening and crashed early. They headed home late Sunday morning. It was a great time, and although I know we may not see them for another year or so I know when we do we will pick up like we have never missed a beat.

Terry & Jilly chilling on the boat.

The Boschs enjoying the water.

Angie & Madelyn tubing.

The adorable, 2 1/2 year old, Miss Jillybean.

Terry attempting skiing after many years and he got up like an ol' pro.
