What We've Been Doing
I made homemade cinnamon rolls and delivered to friends and took the rest to work. My mama's recipe is delicious!
Went to Trick or Treat Street in downtown Augusta, which included a free movie. Dylan and Madelyn both won prizes at the movie.
Went to the fall festival at The First Baptist Church
Played with the newest addition of our household... Tucker James (TJ)

Pumpkin Carving
This is the first year I was master pumpkin carver. Since I have very little artistic ability I knew this would be a challenge and would likely end up being a disaster if I didn't have some assistance. Off to Wal-Mart we went to locate a pumpkin carving kit with stencils. I let Madelyn pick out the design and of course she chose one of the more challenging ones, but I was up for the challenge. The end result didn't turn out terrible but there is room for improvement next go round.
Madelyn's favorite part is cleaning out the pumpkin "guts" and cleaning the pumpkin seeds.

Pumpkin Patch 2011
Last Saturday Madelyn and I met my sister and niece, Aubrey, at Walter's Pumpkin Patch in Burns, KS. There is so much more than pumpkin picking to do at Walters. It was an awesome day for the pumpkin patch. Madelyn and Aubrey had fun with all the festivities and DeAnn and I had fun cracking jokes and poking fun.

State Fair 2011
Madelyn and I had great intentions of attending the state fair after school/work on Friday but the weather had other ideas. On Saturday I already had plans to go to the Hillsboro craft show and then Madelyn and I went to Church and to a friend's birthday party so that day was out for the fair. Sunday we slept in and put out fall decorations and then Madelyn and I were discussing what we wanted to do for the day and I mentioned her inviting a friend to the fair and just like that the decision was made. We quickly got ready, ate lunch and picked up her friend Hollee. We arrived at the fair around 2:00pm. Since it was the last day I figured most exhibits were gone and that there would be few people. Boy was I ever wrong....everything was still going strong and there were crazy amounts of people. That was definitely the place to be for some good people watching. WOW!
We checked out all the animals and spent extra time in the birthing barn because it is my absolute favorite. However, then the questions came about how baby cows are made and no matter how I answered it wasn't good enough. Finally, I just told Madelyn this is something we will discuss when she is older. I did, however, get to educate both girls on the difference between a bull and a steere. I said "it is when a bull gets his nuts cut off." Both girls wrinkled their noses and said "EWWWW!" Then I quickly texted Hollee's mom to let her know that her daughter may be coming home with some new farm facts. Thankfully her mom and I are good friends so it wasn't a big deal. We then shared a funnel cake and drink to fuel up for the carnival rides. This is when it worked in my favor that the fair was so busy because the girls didn't want to wait in long lines for the rides and there were long lines for every ride. But, Madelyn was super stoked about getting to play games and winning a teddy bear and penquin. I'm quite sure I could have purchased the same exact stuffed animals at Walmart for $20 less, but it wouldn't have been as fun, right? After the carnival we walked through a few of the exhibitor buildings to pick up some free stuff. The girls were whining that their feet hurt and they were tired so we soon headed to the car. We stopped at Freddy's for dinner on our way out of town and I was hoping for a quiet ride home since they were tired. But lucky for me they got a second wind and talked nonstop the entire one hour drive home. However, I'm continuously reminded how blessed I am to have an amazing, healthy, spunky little spit fire, that brings me joy each and every day.
