Saturday morning Madelyn had a soccer game. She scored the one and only goal for her team. She had an awesome game and played hard the entire game.

After the game we headed to Hutchinson to the State Fair. Unfortunately we were already miles from home when I discovered I didn't have the camera. Of course, I blamed Ryan.
I drove home from the fair while Ryan sat in the back seat with Madelyn to work on her reading and math. We were less than ten miles from home and I was cruising along listening to Madelyn and Ryan adding and subtracting, I had no clue how fast I was going until I looked up and noticed a cop coming my way. I quickly looked at the speedometer and new I was busted for going 53mph in a 30mph work zone. The cop quickly made a u-turn and I anxiously awaited for the lights to come on, and indeed he did not disappoint. I pulled over and said a few choice words to myself as Madelyn piped in "mama is going to jail." The cop asked me why he pulled me over... why do I have to answer that...he knows why. Then I explained that I was involved with some math with my daughter and had not been paying attention. He went back to his car with my license and insurance and came back a few minutes later and asked me to roll down the back window. He looked at Madelyn and asked her what the answer was to the math problem she was working on and said if she got it right she would get me out of a ticket. I looked at her and said, "you better get it right!!" She froze under pressure and didn't get it right. Thankfully the officer thought Madelyn was cute enough to let me off. He reminded me that my ticket would have been over $300 since I was in a work zone and told me to slow down and only gave me a warning. Phew!! My stomach was in knots the rest of the ride home.
Lesson #1 -If you are going to speed have a cute six year old in the car. She was the only reason I got out of a ticket.
Sunday after Church, Madelyn and I headed to Herington to deliver Jack to his new owner.

Madelyn shed a few tears as she said goodbye. But, a cookie dough blizzard from DQ dried up those tears very quickly.
Ryan was up bright and early on the road to Arkansas Sunday morning to look at a boat. After seven hours on the road Ryan returned with a fish/ski boat. I can't wait to get back in the skiis next summer and Ryan is looking forward to taking it out fishing this week.

Lesson #2- If you are high maintenance and high strung do not buy an indoor puppy that is not potty trained.
Kelso Charles' stay with us was very short lived. After five fun-filled days of cleaning up poo and pee he has found himself a new loving home. Madelyn and I adored him and he was the best lap dog. However, the middle of the night kennel cleanings were more than I cared to deal with. For some reason Kelso thought it was okay to poop in his kennel, even when I took him out every few hours. I thought dogs didn't sh*t in their own nest. I was proven wrong. Those that know me understand that I do not do well with lack of sleep. I was becoming a raging B and not being very kind to Madelyn (or Ryan). It wasn't fair to them. We are also on the go often and I didn't feel right leaving Kelso home alone in a kennel while we are out and about. Ryan was anti-Kelso since the day I brought him home. He would have nothing to do with him. He voiced his disapproval before I brought him home and then just watched me fail. Secretly he was/is thinking I told you so.I have plenty of excuses, but the fact of the matter is I just couldn't do it. I know my limits and a nonpotty trained house puppy is beyond my limit.
Kelso, who will soon have a new name, went to live with one of my staff, who already has a house dog and understands the work they require. Thankfully I will receive regular updates and pictures.
